Proceedings Reopened and Disqualification Avoided

We were asked to assist a driver who had received a notice of disqualification, following a conviction and sentence in the Magistrates’ court that he was unaware of. We quickly arranged for the driver to make a Statutory Declaration, which was served on the Court to remove the ban and restart proceedings. Following discussions with the prosecutor, Laura Newton was able to persuade the prosecutor to drop the two charges which were due to be heard again by the Court. If convicted this would have led to the disqualification being re-imposed and likely loss of job. The driver was able restore and retain his licence without having to attend Court.
