Early Return of Driving Licence Following Early Release from Prison Scheme

Barrister, Millicent Dooher, represented this driver before the Crown Court for the early return of his driving licence. The driver had been convicted of a number of serious offences, resulting in a 7 year period of custody, alongside a driving disqualification that was to continue for 11 months following his release.

The Driver was, however, released early due to the government’s early release scheme. This meant that the driving disqualification was unintentionally extended as it was set for 11 months following his original release date.

Millicent was able to persuade the Judge to reduce the length of the disqualification, to ensure that the intended 11 month period was not exceeded due to the early release scheme.
