Driver Avoids Conviction for Two Offences of Failing to Identify a Driver

Laura Newton represented a driver faced with prosecution of four separate driving offences. He has two speeding offences and had been served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution for each case. He failed to reply to these and was prosecuted for two additional offences of Failing to Identify a Driver, which would be 6 points each. This would be in addition to 3 points for each speeding offence and taken the driver to more than 12 points and a 6 month totting up disqualification.

After liaising with the prosecution before the hearing, it was agreed that the more serious offences could be withdrawn. This left just the speeding offences with 3 penalty points each. We were able to deal with these without the driver having to attend Court saving time, stress and legal costs. The driver avoided an additional 12 points and was able to continue driving.
